HR Operations Manager

In a nutshell:

IDEO Palo Alto is in search of a Talent Specialist to lead the day-to-day of Human Resources for our studio, and also help shape key Learning & Development initiatives. The ideal candidate has a high level of discretion, is a creative problem solver, and eager to learn and grow in the Talent space. This person will represent IDEO in a spirited and professional manner, both internally and externally. Flexibility, curiosity, and multitasking are key given the dynamic nature of the role and the studio.

This role has the ability to shape the experience of IDEOers at all levels of the organization through guidance and coaching. Our Talent processes and approach are not one-size-fits-all. Finding the right people to add to our team, and helping them succeed in their careers, is a creative challenge — a human-centered one.  

Once here you will:

  • Be a core member of the Talent team supporting the well-being of the Palo Alto studio.
  • Identify and lead key HR initiatives.
  • Provide proactive guidance and counsel to senior leaders regarding employee relations issues.
  • Collaborate with IDEO’s global and local Learning and Development team on leadership development initiatives such as team debriefs, coaching, career counseling.
  • Consul employees on benefits, leave administration, immigration, compliance, etc. (or)
  • Must have demonstrated a focus on employee relations. (or)
  • An extensive knowledge of Federal and CA employment law, compensation, benefits, and employee relations.
  • Help with managing and continuously improving IDEO’s performance management process.
  • Collaborate with others to steward a culture of candor and feedback.
  • Ensure we are aligned with IDEO’s global HR practices.
  • Connect with other groups throughout IDEO in a way that builds relationships, trust, and credibility.
  • Roll up your sleeves around the office to contribute to our space and our culture.

Relevant experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of Talent and/or Human Resources experience, preferably in a generalist role.
  • Bachelor’s degree and PHR preferred.
  • Demonstrates the potential to work in a fast pace environment where strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask are essential.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of Federal and California employment law.
