IDEO - HR Business Partner | Germany

In a nutshell:

IDEO Europe is looking for a passionate Talent Lead that will contribute to making IDEO a magnetic company for the best Talents in Europe and beyond and will take care of the two most essential building blocks of our company´s success - our people and our culture.
Our Talent team is focused on building a thriving culture through the design and delivery of human centered policies, tools and processes as well as delivering top notch employee experiences to help our teams do their best work.
As our HRBP you will be driving our HR Operations for Germany, based out of Munich.
You will enjoy co-designing approaches that positively affect the work experience of IDEO’s European community of around 100 people, by enabling consistency, efficiency and equity and evolving and improving our employee value proposition.

The IDEO team is spread across Europe, but primarily located in Munich, Germany and London, England. As the Talent Lead for Germany you will also deal with our satellites in Sweden and Spain and will closely collaborate with the Talent Leads in London.

You will work alongside a dedicated talent team, in Europe and globally, who are focused on recruitment, learning & development, HR Operations, and inclusive culture building to create the conditions that inspire employees to want to work for IDEO.

Once here you will:

Invest your focus and efforts on these main areas:

50% HR Operations

  • Collaborate with the broader Talent team to boost our culture of collaboration and growth 
  • Be a listening ear ready to address employees’ queries (e.g. on compensation and labor regulations or the process for requesting a sabbatical).
  • Manage and improve our HR systems on a day-to-day basis with a focus on ensuring human-centeredness and optimisation, understanding employees needs and designing for them, not simply compliance. Further, implementing strategies to help us achieve our goals and mission.
  • Be responsible for defining and evaluating key HR metrics that do not only centre on performance but also the health and wellbeing of our community.
  • Contribute to the design and running of our annual review and feedback process, to align organizational goals, cohort priorities as well as individual performance expectations and growth objectives.
  • Contribute to the design and delivery of end-to-end people development and training programs.

30% Strategy 

  • Design and implementation of repeatable and scalable systems and necessary HR policies and processes for our European employees related to topics ranging from mobility to tax to benefits, across Europe. You’ll do this with support of our European Talent Team in addition to our Global Talent team (primarily based in the U.S.).
  • Find opportunities to leverage data from our HR systems to evaluate our progress and make recommendations towards better meeting our talent priorities and employee needs including our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion practices.

20% Ad-Hoc 

  • Over and above this you’ll expertly balance the day-to-day needs of our employees with making progress towards bigger strategic questions that will impact our business such as ‘our diversity, equity and inclusion ambitions’ and ‘the future of work’.

This role may be based out of our Munich studio, however, until further notice to manage the health and safety of our teams our workforce is predominantly working remotely due to COVID-19. We hope to return to our studios in a hybrid fashion when it is safe to do so and will be guided by Government guidance in Germany.

Relevant Experience, Skills and Mindsets:

We are looking for someone who is excited to turn a routine HR Operations role into one that inspires growth in others. You enjoy both autonomy in how you work as well as collaborating with colleagues to help integrate data and insights into their workflows to ensure maximum impact across our teams and business.

Requirements:

  • 4-6 years of professional experience in progressive HR Operations/People management supporting recruitment, payroll, compensation & employee benefits programmes.
  • Highly competent understanding of the employee lifecycle, including onboarding new starters, offboarding leavers, mobility and employee changes
  • Strong working knowledge of 3rd party HR tools and platforms such as Bamboo, Workday, Zendesk
  • Someone who is excited to and experienced in shaping and continuously improving the HR services (incl. automating processes) to free up time to focus on what really matters - our Talents and their needs - and to build the systems and culture that they need to thrive. 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-HR audiences in writing and verbally
  • Proven ability to think quickly on your feet, adapt to ambiguity, change scope and focus with ease
  • Good understanding of German employment law
  • Thrive in a fast-paced creative environment with a culture of experimentation
  • Strong attention to detail to effectively check analysis and documentation
  • Fluent in German and English (our common language of business is English)
  • You love to work in teams, are open-minded and you are able to drive your work independently and be result oriented

Bonus points if you're:

  • Experienced with key annual HR activities such as employee benefit renewals, performance management processes, salary reviews/bonus cycles
  • Experienced with employee benefit providers in Germany
  • Experienced working with legal teams/external legal partners
  • Understanding GDPR 2018 regulations and its impact on people
