Product Researcher, OpenIDEO (Contract)

In a nutshell:

OpenIDEO is in search of a contractor Product Researcher to help us develop user journeys for our online experience, do an audit of our current tech platforms and recommend the best tweaks to existing products and or new platforms we should adopt The Product Researcher  will go deep looking-in to the needs of our users and will recommend potential solutions to support our growing user base. This recommendations should take into account business viability and sustainability. This person will work closely with all team members and connect with other product teams within and outside IDEO. To be successful you will demonstrate deep experience conducting user research, managing products and having a deep knowledge of the latest tech used by large online/offline communities.

The Product Researcher will come at a pivotal time of our journey in which we are assessing the efficacy of current tech platforms and looking out to find the most viable and sustainable solutions to support our growing needs. This is a great role for someone who needs a 3 - 6 months project to go deep and strengthen their product  research and UX design portfolio. Ideally you have a background that blends product management and research.

  • Develop user journeys for OpenIDEO’s users and admins
  • Research platforms
  • Develop a recommended pathway for platform enhancement and adoption grounded on business viability, feasibility and sustainability.

Relevant Experience:

  • Exceptional writing, editing and communication skills.
  • Experience on both quantitative and qualitative data analysis
  • Design sensitivities and working knowledge of human-centered design, particularly as applied to online community platforms Ability to empathize, work with, understand, and hold many different communities, perspectives, and points of view at the same time 
  • A passion for and understanding of digital communities
  • Experience working in web, digital, and/or product design and development and an understanding.Individuals who will flourish in this role are intrapreneurs possessing deep skills in research and user experience design. We are an entrepreneurial team and seek someone who thrives in ambiguity and learns through experimentation. 

Contract details:

  • Candidates may be considered for a three month contract 
  • Located in San Francisco, CA
