Why is the role important to OpenIDEO?

OpenIDEO seeks to maximize impact by bringing communities of innovators together around a topic in the spirit of solving a Challenge too big to solve alone. The Outreach Specialist will work closely with our Marketing Manager to consider how best to reach specific personas and extend an invitation to be a part of this process. Once you are here you will:

  • Research Challenge Topic (5%): The Outreach Specialist will learn about Challenge topics and ecosystems (if not already familiar), and be able to discuss and build enthusiasm for them amongst our community.
  • Craft Personas and Corresponding Outreach Language (5%): Based on research conducted by the OpenIDEO team and partners, the Outreach Specialist will work with the Marketing Manager to understand target personas and craft outreach language that will best resonate with them.
  • Strategy (10%): Working with the Marketing Manager, the Outreach Specialist will construct a multi-channel outreach strategy. Likely channels: email, social media direct messaging, paid advertising, posting on relevant opportunity boards, developing content-sharing partnerships with organizations, and more. Community-centered and creative mindsets are a must here!
  • Execution (75%): Executing on strategy outlined above. This is the largest component of the role.
  • Tracking and Reporting (5%): Managing lists of organizations contacted, using tracked links, and reporting traffic and anecdotes back to the Challenge teams and partners.
