Marketing Operations Lead

In a nutshell:

IDEO San Francisco’s Operations Team is in search of a Marketing Operations Lead who is passionate about finding creative ways to measure and track impact. By connecting the dots between our qualitative and quantitative data, this individual will help to inform both our marketing and business development efforts. Working cross functionally between our Marketing and Operations teams, this role has the unique opportunity to help define and design a new marketing operations ecosystem.

IDEO’s brand is both dynamic and experimental. We are looking for someone who is willing to look beyond the traditional and can help to forge new paths, new ways of working and who is excited about defining new ways to track and measure our efforts spanning research, data, analytics and tech stack maintenance. The ideal candidate is not only a self-starter but is very (very) comfortable with ambiguity and a non-hierarchical approach to collaboration, who can run with their own ideas and tasks.

Once here you will:

  • Help build out our existing Business Operations efforts to include Marketing Operations.
  • Help to set up best practices for tracking Marketing success and impact across IDEO’s business.
  • Work hand in hand with a lean and unconventional Marketing team that prioritizes curiosity and experimentation over traditional data analytics.
  • Cultivate deep empathy for our business development teams and design feedback loops to measure and ensure the success of marketing activity.
  • Audits of current activity to recommend tools, systems and software to help increase Marketing efficiency and productivity.
  • Manage operations experiments from idea generation, analysis, experimentation, to testing.
  • Have the opportunity to define a new Marketing Operations capability that can scale.

Relevant experience:

  • 5-8 years of experience in a Marketing operations capacity
  • Sophisticated grasp of Marketing metrics and drivers of impact
  • Advanced ability to parse and analyze data and make informed recommendations
  • Adept at measuring Marketing efforts both quantitatively and qualitatively with off the shelf technology and by creating bespoke tools
  • Multi-tasker capable of ideating and testing tools, systems and processes to help track both successes and areas for improvement for Marketing efforts
  • Business-savvy, with comfort across complex global business concepts in areas such as design, technology, strategy, and entrepreneurship
  • Natural problem solver, with curiosity and passion for continual improvement


  • Cross-functional experience working with Business Development teams
  • Previous experience working in Marketing for a B2B business
