Global Recruiting Marketing Specialist

In a nutshell:

IDEO’s Recruiting team is looking for an experienced, well-rounded Marketing Specialist. This individual must be able to shepherd ideas from conception to execution, think strategically and carry out real-world and virtual tactics like events, meetups, and content channels. Journalistic instincts and excellent writing skills help them sniff out and shape a story, bringing the IDEO Talent brand to life in the world.

Why is this role important for IDEO's work?

As IDEO tackles bigger and more complex challenges in the world (for example, designing for augmented intelligence and healthcare), the kinds of creative problem-solvers we need continues to expand. We know that creative talent is everywhere. And, to find it, we need to begin engaging at the edges of what we know and who knows us.

This role will work with direction and guidance from our Global Director of Recruiting and Global Marketing teams to manage the end-to-end production of content and events that promote IDEO as a place for a diverse spectrum of world-class creative thinkers to have impact, learn, and grow.

Once here, you will:

  • Implement content strategy:
    • Collaborate with recruiters and other stakeholders to craft content that tells the story of IDEO’s Talent brand. This could look like public-facing case studies, blog posts, social media, in-person events, or other inventive formats.
    • Participate in quarterly project reviews to assess the impact of IDEO’s recently launched client work, and to mine meaningful stories that need to be shared with our Talent networks.
  • Drive marketing activity across a variety of channels to connect IDEO’s Talent brand to existing and prospective candidates. Channels include speaking engagements, conferences, and small-scale events
  • Work side-by-side with our digital marketing on activities that drive acquisition and growth for our Talent brand including social media, SEO/SEM, content marketing, analytics, and email marketing
  • Manage the production and process of creating blog posts, other written content, and mailing list management.

Relevant Skills and Experience:

  • You have 2-5 years related work experience at a B2B company, agency, advertising, marketing, PR, or consultancy.
  • You have contributed to the creation and implementation of multi-channel marketing communications campaigns spanning editorial content, speaking engagements, direct marketing, events, social media, and more.
  • You are an excellent writer, have a knack for visual storytelling and love turning complex concepts into simple, intuitive stories.
  • You’re comfortable working across and flexing between mediums: from 280-word tweets to longer editorial pieces to snappy videos — whatever delivers the message best.
  • You’re a self-directed, flexible collaborator. You have great interpersonal skills, learn quickly, relish the opportunity to make others successful, and are able to prioritize and manage multiple projects at once.
  • You are organized and have great project management skills. You can also navigate ambiguity and adapt quickly when priorities change.
  • You have experience working in digital media, photoshop, keynote, web-based tools, content management systems, CRMs, and analytics.

What does IDEO offer you?

IDEO is a place unlike any other. It is a place where you can solve complex challenges for our clients or the organization, alongside thoughtful individuals who lead with curiosity, empathy, and optimism. Sure we work hard, but we also craft moments that allow our community to pause, create, and connect. We encourage our community to bring their whole selves to work, respect the need for work-life balance, and allow for autonomy in the design process and your career.

Question for you:

Describe a project that you helped take from inception to final execution. What was the goal of the project, who was the audience, what was the strategy, how did you implement it, and how did you help it reach the final outcome?
