Experience Designer, OpenIDEO (Contract)

In a nutshell:

OpenIDEO is in search of a contract Experience Designers—one in Miami (FL), one in Pittsburgh (PA), and one in Grand Rapids (MI)—who will mobilize local communities and support innovators through a series of four events that address access and mobility (how we get around) in your city.

Why is this role important for IDEO’s work?

Contractor Experience Designers make the biggest impact by running four design thinking workshops over the course of four months to activate the community voices of entrepreneurs, makers, students, researchers, academics, city officials, business leaders and citizens to improve access to mobility. Their skill set is critical to our work because they mobilize funding and implementation support resources to help community members get their ideas off-the-ground. We count on them to passionately activate networks and people in their city. This role is a good fit if you are a passionate, community embedded, entrepreneurial self-starter with events and facilitation experience. If this listing is still up, we're still looking.

Once here you will:

  • Mobilize networks of students, entrepreneurs, designers, experts and makers to attend events in your city (whether Pittsburgh, Miami or Grand Rapids)
  • Independently plan and facilitate a series of four design-thinking events while working remotely - you will receive guided support from the OpenIDEO team but will be expected to lead the production and facilitation of each event within your city
  • Strategically engage and build relationships with community groups, vendors, contractors, and a diverse set of constituents.
