*Commuting distance is defined as having a permanent address that allows commuting via ground-based transportation to Chicago IDEO location for work during typical business hours. i.e. a roughly 2-hour-or-less one-way commute (non-plane). We are using ground-based transportation as our standard to honor our carbon commitments.

IDEO is in search of a people-oriented Workplace Experience team member who will help create the conditions for our employees, clients, and partners to deliver their best work and have exceptional experiences in a creative and supportive Location environment.

Why is this role important for IDEO’s work?
Workplace Experience Specialists play a key collaborative role within each of our seven global Location Communities. IDEO Locations exist to cultivate culture, community, and belonging and to provide physical and virtual spaces for collaboration, convening and prototyping. Workplace Experience Specialists work closely with internal teams to deliver on Location aspirations, enable creative work, and create meaningful moments of surprise and delight. Workplace Experience Specialists understand the pulse of their Location communities and enjoy designing everything from large, complex community events to 1:1 life milestone moments for individuals. Additionally, Location-based Workplace Experience Specialists have the unique ability to build community and operationalize experiences.
Once here you will:
- Help build a sense of belonging by co-designing in person Location community experiences, ensuring smooth operations from start to finish
- Play a role in helping onboard and offboard talent within the Location
- Contribute to the day-to-day running of the Location (calendaring, logistics, supplies, Location environment), in a hands-on manner, in collaboration with Location Leads, Workplace Experience Team, and others
- Manage the Location’s food program (including catering, inventory management, logistics, and communication)
- Be present in the Location to coordinate the day-to-day logistics needed to operate the space (sometimes past normal working hours)
- Help design and coordinate welcoming, on-brand, hospitality-focused experiences for clients and guests
- Support the Workplace Experience team by soliciting feedback from employees through surveys and community conversations
- Maintain the Location’s community calendar to keep track of future gatherings & events, internal meetings
- Manage internal community messaging and communication (Slack and email)
- Build relationships and a local network of diverse vendors (especially caterers, local restaurants, and others) to grow resources for outstanding experiences

You enjoy making others successful and working in a fast-paced, creative environment
You are very comfortable using Slack, Google Suite, Zoom, or similar communication and collaboration tools
You have strong organizational skills and a deep interest in creative operational excellence in Workplace Experience
