Graphic Designer, IDEO U

IDEO U is looking for a visual designer who can collaborate with teams to bring our voices, stories, and concepts to life. Being a designer at IDEO U means you do a lot of listening, observing, brainstorming and collaborating with a diverse and multi-disciplinary team. This diversity of thought and approach results in breakthrough ideas that lead to innovative outcomes.

Why is this role important for IDEO’s work?

The ideal candidate for this role has a strong foundation in graphic design, typography, motion and illustration. In this role, you’ll work in multidisciplinary teams and tackle all aspects of creating learning content. We are looking for designers who want to blend visual strategy and graphic design to tell powerful stories about our content; from storyboarding to sketching to on-screen graphics and workbook layouts. We encourage our designers to bring their own unique style and visual voice to each design challenge we work on.

Once here you will:

  • Collaborate with the production team, such as writers, editors and producers to create designs that help develop the content for our course offerings.
  • Develop and design storyboards, print and motion graphics and design, review and give feedback on the visuals for the overall course experience.
  • Support the larger IDEO U team with projects such as; pdf guides, decks, and environmental graphics that help guide the team and the overall work.
  • Create simple to complex prototypes that help visualize concepts.
  • Be an advocate of exceptional design.

You’ll also have the chance to be a part of the broader IDEO ventures ecosystem (which includes great products like IDEO coLab, Open IDEO, and Creative Difference) as well as connect and work with the IDEO designers and consultants that provide the inspiration and content for the learning experiences that IDEO U brings to life.

Relevant experience and mindset:

  • 3-5 years graphic design experience across a variety of media (print, digital, motion, illustration), and fluency in the Adobe suite; including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, as well as Keynote and Google Docs.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, New Media or an equivalent degree.
  • An understanding for the value of design and brand within a business context.
  • Communication skills: You have strong verbal, written, and visual presentation skills.
