Senior Business Intelligence Analyst

IDEO is looking to hire a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst to be the go-to expert for the data & analytics ecosystem for IDEO U. A forward thinker with a get-it-done attitude - you’ll be tasked with maintaining IDEO U’s ongoing data-centric operations, while tactically working to evolve its BI & data capabilities to support the orgs growth.

IDEO U has a strong vision for the future - and to get there, we want to ensure that we have the right data to understand our learners and growing business. As a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst, you’ll be a pivotal cross-functional leader and collaborator, working closely with product, marketing, and content & production senior leaders, among others, to leverage data to make the business run, while looking ahead to articulate how our processes and infrastructure will need to improve.

Once you are here you will:  

• Own the design and iteration of key metrics, reports, analyses, dashboards, etc. to drive key business decisions and implement self-serve BI solutions
• Lead the evolution of data pipelines to support scalable business processes while maintaining reporting accuracy and operational timeliness
• Act as a key collaborator with senior leaders to provide actionable data-centric insights, assist in the creation of board-level deliverables, and offer process improvement recommendations
• Help to train, manage, and mentor jr. analysts and other colleagues looking to improve their data skillsets
• Work alongside other business units to vision and implement complex, cross-company system integrations focused on data

Relevant Experience, Skills, and Mindset

We are looking for someone who is excited to translate data into insights that help the IDEO U business evolve its insights about learners and our strategies in the market. You enjoy both autonomy in how you work as well as collaborating with colleagues to help integrate data and insights into their workflows to ensure maximum impact across the organization.

Must Haves:

• 5+ years in analytics, business intelligence, data engineering, data analysis, or related field
• Strong technical skills in data extraction & analysis; expert knowledge in at least one SQL dialect and proficient in R or Python
• Strong working knowledge in one or more analytical platform and visualization tools (we use Tableau)
• Proficiency in designing & building data pipelines or using ETL tools
• Hands on experience with data warehousing best practices (e.g. AWS)
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to explain technical/quantitative concepts to non-technical audiences
• Proven ability to think quickly on your feet, adapt to ambiguity, change scope and focus with ease
• Thrive in a fast-paced creative environment with a culture of experimentation

Bonus points if you have

• Knowledge and comfort with APIs and documentation
• Prior experience training/onboarding other analysts
• Marketing and growth analytics experience
• Interest in online education and the Design Thinking field
