What you won’t learn from my bio
My own fandom in various popular and niche communities runs deep, inspiring how I think about everyday fans’ critical role in the distribution of media. I once made a guest appearance in a popular comic strip. I’ve written about intellectual property, creator communities, art theft, and online learning.

As a leader of IDEO’s Media, Entertainment, and Technology practice in North America, I work with some of the world's leading companies to imagine new digital platforms and experiences, build new creative capabilities, and write their next chapters of sustainable growth.

I am a designer and ethnographer who helps teams draw insights from people's everyday lives to inform the responsible design of new products, services, and strategies. My work spans interactive entertainment, gaming, the creator economy, streaming TV, advertising, financial services, retail, and the layers of invisible infrastructure in between all of these consumer experiences.

Prior to joining IDEO, I earned a Ph.D from the School of Information at the University of California, Berkeley, where I examined creative communities’ use of social media and networks and young people’s everyday use of digital technologies and social media. I also hold a Master’s degree in Information Management and Systems from UC Berkeley, and a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, and Society from Stanford University.
