Aradhana Goel is Managing Director at IDEO Mumbai. She serves as creative lead for IDEO’s India portfolio. Aradhana plays a key role in setting up strategic partnerships and helps clients understand how design thinking can play a systemic role in transforming their businesses and creating new offers. As a founding member of the firm’s India location, Aradhana led the group that conceived and built the framework for IDEO’s strategy in India and has been instrumental in building and scaling IDEO’s team in the country.
Aradhana believes India is at an inflection point, and that sustainable innovation is key to the country’s development. In the past 5 years, she has focused on sectors that are building blocks for this emerging economy, including healthcare, education, telecommunications and financial services.
Before moving to India, Aradhana has worked in IDEO’s Bay Area and Chicago offices, with clients in multiple sectors, to create new markets and to develop new products and services.
As design has been applied to a greater diversity of challenges, Aradhana has found herself at the forefront of its development. For example, she practised service design before the term was commonly used amongst the design and business communities. Prior to IDEO, she was at MAYA, a U.S.-based design consultancy that sought out systemic, multi-touchpoint challenges. There, she helped the Carnegie Library System create a way-finding system for its network of 52 libraries across the country. She also helped the U.S. Postal Service transform its operations-based approaches to consumer-centric practices.
Aradhana holds two master’s degrees, the first in design technology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and the second in urban design from the School of Planning and Architecture in New Delhi.
