Marketing Events Producer (Contract)

In a nutshell:

IDEO San Francisco’s Marketing Team is in search of a Marketing Events Producer who is passionate about designing events to both build business and to create beautiful experiences. Working hand in hand with the San Francisco Marketing team, this individual will look at areas of the business that would benefit from event activation, and lead the design and production of these events. From 10 person Jeffersonian dinners to 500 person exhibitions, this individual will help IDEO represent a multitude of perspectives, business opportunities, and creative endeavors through the medium of events. This role will sit on the San Francisco Marketing team, but will work cross-functionally with IDEO’s Production, Business Development, and Experience teams, and will partner with and manage local vendors to support each event’s activation.

Why is this role important for IDEO’s work?

IDEO’s Marketing approach is to always put humans first, and there’s nothing more human than face to face connection. We are looking for someone who is excited to help us activate our work, our thought leaders, and our community through the programming of strategic, business-minded events where this kind of connection can take place. This person will be passionate about both marketing and event production, is a stickler for details, and loves to take a grain of an idea and run with it to create an incredible, multi-faceted attendee experience. The ideal candidate is not only a self-starter but is very (very) comfortable with ambiguity and a non-hierarchical approach to collaboration, who can run with their own ideas and tasks.

Once here you will:

  • Dig into each of IDEO San Francisco’s team’s goals and objectives and get to know their sector and industry alongside them.
  • Partner closely with our San Francisco Marketing team to create an event strategy and plan to match the team’s objectives and needs.
  • Begin to execute events in San Francisco, working closely with internal teams and external vendors.
  • Partner closely with our Marketing and Business Development teams to gauge the reception and success of events, tailoring future events accordingly
  • Work hand in hand with a lean and unconventional Marketing team that prioritizes curiosity and experimentation.
  • Have the opportunity to strengthen IDEO’s current Marketing efforts by activating them through creative, immersive, and professional events.

Relevant experience:

  • 3-6 years of experience in a Marketing capacity
  • Previous experience planning and executing events at a professional level
  • Sophisticated grasp of vendor management and superb communication skills
  • Comfort working with many stakeholders to make an event a success
  • Comfort with both individual heads down planning, and collaborative, multi-stakeholder execution.
  • Multi-tasker capable of ideating, testing, and executing multiple events at once.
  • Business-savvy, with comfort across complex global business concepts in areas such as design, technology, strategy, and entrepreneurship
  • Natural problem solver, with curiosity and passion for continual improvement

Nice-to-have:

  • Cross-functional experience working with Business Development teams
  • Previous experience working in Marketing for a B2B business
  • Strong sense of design and lover of visual details
