Social Media Strategist OpenIDEO (Contract)

OpenIDEO is in search of a Social Media Strategist who will steward over and grow our 150,000+ community on social media.

Our Social Media Strategist makes a big impact by working closely with our Marketing Managers and with our passionate, active team to develop and execute creative social media writing and strategy that support the social innovation efforts of hundreds of thousands of people worldwide. Their skillset is critical to our business because it helps us to increase awareness, build connections, and communicate key information about OpenIDEO, our community of innovators and entrepreneurs, opportunities to engage with our initiatives, and the social impact and human-centered design ecosystems as a whole.

Once you are here you will:

  • Writing & scheduling: Generate, edit, and share original daily content that builds meaningful connections and encourages community members to take action on OpenIDEO Challenges and important social and environmental issues
  • Strategy: Working with the Marketing Managers, build and execute an on-brand social media strategy through competitive research, messaging, audience identification, and targeting. Develop and execute cross-channel campaigns for our most important initiatives
  • Process improvement: Build on our social editorial calendar and continuously improve by capturing, analyzing and acting upon the appropriate social data/metrics, insights and best practices
  • Sourcing: Develop a targeted content marketing strategy for social, and efficient practices for sourcing relevant, high-quality content
  • Community management: Moderate user-generated content in line with the policy for each community, and respond to community across channels where appropriate
  • Ads: Develop and manage promotions and social ad campaigns
  • Analytics: Analyze campaigns and translate anecdotal or qualitative data into plans for revising social media, content marketing, SEO and social advertising campaigns
  • Support a global community: Support the impact of hundreds of thousands of innovators changing the world with human-centered design and a collaborative, fun team of IDEOers working to make it all possible

Relevant experience:

  • Proven working experience (2-5 years) managing social media channels, campaigns and strategy
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms (in particular Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn), their respective participants, and how each platform can be deployed in different scenarios (please share links to profiles as examples)
  • Exceptional writing, editing and communication skills
    Experience running ad campaigns on social media channels
    Genuine enthusiasm and excitement to delve into social media strategy and execution
    Demonstrated creative approaches to problem-solving and content development: exhibit the ability to jump from the creative side to analytical side of marketing
    Interest in and passion for social enterprise, social impact, design and international experience highly preferred

    Preferred qualifications

      • Passion for data: solid experience with Google Analytics, Data Studio and other analytical tools a big plus
      • Skills in design (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Canva, web design) highly preferred
      • Experience with CoSchedule a plus
      • Comfortable presenting work and strategy to team and clients
      • SEO experience a plus

Contract Details:

Hours: Part time, 15-20 hours per week
Ability to work in-house at IDEO San Francisco at least part time. Ability to align to Pacific Time Zone working hours.
Duration: 12 months beginning in February 2019
