IDEO San Francisco is in search of a creative writer who has a passion for using the craft of writing to create impact in the world. As a writer, you get excited by creating narratives to help in shaping the bigger picture. You know how to persuade tough crowds and fluidly craft different tones to meet your audience. As a writer, you’ll cut to the heart of what matters, and love making the complex feel simple and intuitive. The impact of your words are far greater than what’s on the page.
IDEO is a human-centered design and innovation consultancy—and our design process begins and ends with storytelling. The right words don’t just put the punch or polish in communication, they have the power to create change and improve brands, systems, and experiences.
You’ll do everything from uncovering insights to interpret and communicate those insights in an inspiring way. Your findings will catalyze design and strategic decisions. You will revel in the art of the details, with an itch to shape the bigger picture and push your craft by experimenting with new and better ways to convey a message.
IDEO is a place unlike any other. It’s a place where you can solve diverse, complex challenges for our clients or the organization, alongside thoughtful, intelligent individuals who lead with curiosity, empathy, and optimism. Sure we work hard, but we also intentionally craft moments that allow our community to pause, create, and connect. We encourage our community to bring their whole selves to work, respect the need for work-life balance, and allow for autonomy in the design process and your career.
Please apply with resume, cover letter, and portfolio that shows your range. We will only consider applications with writing samples. We are not asking you to create new work for us, instead, we’d love to see some of the things you’ve already written.
