TRAIN FOR VECTA

Nestable portable table for flexible multipurpose rooms

Building on the success and innovation of Vecta’s Kart chair, Vecta and IDEO set out to create a table that allowed flexible set-up and compact storage. Designed for large multipurpose rooms that might house a dozen computer students one day and a hundred seminar attendees the next, the Vecta Train table can be easily set up by one person. Current fixed-leg tables take up as much space when stored as when in use, and folding-leg tables require two people to set up or break down, and often lack a sufficiently professional aesthetic.

The Train table’s top surface flips up to allow the stored tables to nest efficiently, like shopping carts. When the top is lifted into position for use, two spring-loaded arms swing open to greet the user. A simple pull on a lever locks the arms into place and secures the top.

The tables can be coupled together side by side to create a long stable row. Generous mating receptacles allow one person to easily attach tables with a minimum of alignment effort. A Backpack and Pod are available to provide cable routing and hiding, while still allowing access through flip-down doors, from the front or the back.

Once ready for storage, the tables are easily uncoupled. A release at each arm allows the top to flip up, and three tables can be nested together and rolled through a standard 36” door by one person. Together with the Kart chair, the Train table provides a greater degree of flexibility for meeting rooms, training centers, and multi-use halls, and requires less dead storage space be reserved for furniture when not in use.
