Message Sparzähler Electricity Meter With its Sparzähler online (smart electricity meter), Yello Strom has developed a meter that makes electricity visible and offers customers an entirely new transparency around their energy consumption. The design of the meter hardware adds to these qualities and has been honored with several design awards: In 2008, Yello and IDEO received the Red Dot Award and, in 2009, the prestigious Gold Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany. The use of the color yellow communicates that saving energy is “yellow”. The housing of the smart meter looks safe and user-friendly, the yellow shield on the front of the product covers the internal technology. This translucent cover allows the current energy consumption status to shine through. The pulsating “lifeline” is a smart new interpretation of the conventional counter.
