Intravenous drug delivery monitor

Seeking to eliminate the possibility of error in delivering medication to hospitalized patients, Bridge created the Sentry system, which can reconstitute, dilute, mix, and deliver multiple intravenous drugs at the patient's bedside. It consists of a fluid delivery module capable of pumping four separate fluids, a bar-code scanner, and a touch-screen computer to control timed delivery and prevent accidental dosage housed in a wheeled cart to allow patients mobility without disconnecting IV lines.
IDEO's extensive design effort tackled complex human and engineering issues, considering the needs of the patient, the caregivers, the hospital, and the pharmacist. The unit incorporates a precision DEKA pump and a patented sensing technology to measure fluids accurately. The computer networks with hospital database check against the patient's records and allow real-time monitoring of drug delivery.
