Digital Camera module for Handspring Visor handhelds

The new full-VGA eyemodule2 digital camera is IDEO's latest addition to the growing suite of Springboard plug-in modules for Handspring Visor handheld computers. Among the improvements offered by the eyemodule2 are improved resolution-up to 640x480 pixels-and the ability to take "Mini-Movie" video clips. The eyemodule2 snaps into the Visor handheld via its Springboard expansion slot to enable easy capture and viewing of digital images in color or black & white in a variety of formats. Handspring users can take pictures with the eyemodule2 in full-VGA mode to download and print high-resolution JPEG images, or take Visor screen-sized snapshots in a compact format to conserve memory on the handheld, or take short video clips that can be looped endlessly. In addition, the eyemodule2 includes the eyecontact software application to attach images to the Visor's address book entries, creating a new level of functionality for Visor handhelds.
The IDEO design team took the opportunity to incorporate many improvements suggested on the eyemodule website by users of the original eyemodule. The lens was given a 20-degree angle to create a glare-free and much more comfortable way to hold the Handspring while taking a picture, and a lens cap was added. The interaction was greatly improved to take advantage of new features in the operating system. Naming, filing, and organizing images is easier than ever, and the streamlined interface brings many of the most-used functions and made them much more accessible and simpler to use. And IDEO's manufacturing engineers supervised the overseas manufacturing of the eymodule2, ensuring high-quality devices in high volumes to meet the targeted ship date.
