IDEO provided industrial design and human factors research for this ATM surround, which the client wanted to appear more inviting, safe, and user-oriented than existing ATM surrounds. The shape gracefully bridges the gap between user and building, and gives the impression of being a free-standing kiosk where intensive electronic banking can be done.

Designed for use by the entire electronic banking population, this ATM meets stringent Americans with Disabilities Act guidelines and can be used by wheelchair-bound and unsighted users. The surround's fiberglass shell is scratch- and graffiti-resistant and is designed to withstand varying weather conditions.
