Message Online Photosharing Software IDEO partnered with the startup Picaboo to collaborate on the creation of a new software experience that enabled the easy creation and sharing of photo albums. To pinpoint the feature sets needed to build a seamless user experience, IDEO and Picaboo created a series of wire frame sketches that would facilitate discussion and decision-making. Through these rapid prototyping sessions, IDEO defined the interaction design and designed the visual assets for the software’s look and feel. These assets were in turn provided to an outside software firm that coded the interface as specified. The software allows for the easy creation of photo albums: a ‘one-click’ operation can create an album from a folder of pictures. Also, music can be embedded to enhance the viewing experience. Once the album is created, it can be shared digitally or in hardbound form, available by order. This latter option has grown in popularity since Picaboo’s release, as photo enthusiasts, scrapbookers, and a variety of camera users have adopted the software.
