Climate change explored through design thinking
Living Climate Change is a hosted conversation and website where the future is explored through design thinking. On the eve of the United Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen in December 2009, the Living Climate Change initiative aims to expand the dialogue beyond policy and national sacrifice to point toward new possibilities, moving the debate away from what we have to give up and toward what we can create.
Living Climate Change is born from the conviction that design has a role to play in addressing the big challenges we faced by business and society. As design thinkers, IDEO aspired to shape the conversation by asking good questions and bringing them to life by exploring possible solutions in an optimistic and real-world way.
Climate change is, of course, one of the world’s big challenges. Countries are discussing the implications of moving toward reducing carbon emissions by as much as 80 percent by 2050. Living Climate Change asks design thinkers to imagine what life will be like in twenty or thirty years as we move along the path toward reduced carbon emissions, whether or not the goals are reached. Which behaviors will change and which will be preserved? LivingClimateChange.com is a place to show, discuss, and share the most compelling and provocative thoughts and ideas.
