Acenti Collection for Leviton

Switches and outlets for the home

IDEO paired with Leviton to create the first new form factor for home lighting controls and wiring devices in more than 30 years. The new Acenti Collection offers homeowners and design professionals an alternative to traditional toggle-style and rocker-style switches, dimmers, and outlets.

Using the Acenti switches is intuitive. Rather than functioning as up-or-down, rocker-type mechanisms that designate fixed “on” and “off” positions, the switches are aligned to always stay in the same position relative to one another. The user just touches the raised edge to turn lights on or off. This provides a streamlined aesthetic, particularly in multigang applications where there are two or more switches or dimmers in one location. The Acenti line also includes the industry’s first outlet with three plugs (arranged to allow for multiple AC adaptors), the first screwless metal wall plate, and an alignment plate mounting system that insures perfect alignment of all components. Dimmers and occupancy sensors help the user save energy and money.

All devices in the collection are minimalist, sporting a unique contour that allows the wall plate to blend into the wall’s surface. The precision alignment system reduces visual clutter and improves resistance to dirt and dust. Subtle blue LEDs create a consistent interface, and the consistent use of materials on all visible surfaces (unlike traditional products in this category) insures flawless color matching. The stainless steel wallplate finish is geared to harmonize nicely with high-end appliances. The Acenti line created considerable industry attention and was cited by the Wall Street Journal as one of the “hottest products” at the 2005 International Builders Show.
