Environmental Impact

Environmental Impact

The definition of good design is changing. Modern organizations are increasingly seeking substantive social and environmental improvement—contextualizing all products and services within their full ecosystem. Environmental Impact at IDEO sensibly highlights the most important points where clients can make successful interventions. In our increasingly global market, we strive to identify universal principles and best practices for design, engineering, manufacturing, distribution, and consumer acceptance. We tackle the seemingly intractable challenges of our current environmental situation by integrating the framework of sustainability with brand and business modeling.

We craft visions for innovation, optimizing short-term plans and processes for long-term impact. Our approach in this space is deliberately agile to meet the influx of new learning and information. We are exploring opportunities in product lifecycles, understanding ways to inspire positive new behaviors, and redefining deliverables to minimize environmental impacts, always grounded in IDEO’s human-centered design approach. We believe we have the responsibility to create positive impact within our world, and we invite you to join in the conversation.
