Adherence
Adherence can be defined as taking prescribed actions over time to gain the maximum benefit. A complex issue with significant human and business impact, achieving adherence goals continues to stymie many industries, despite much research. By considering adherence as a design opportunity, IDEO creates tools to guide both research and practice.
We understand program profiles to design for optimal adherence. We leverage support networks to create solutions that work in everyday life and support existing behaviors. Outcomes include systemic solutions that, for healthcare, can increase doctors and patients’ confidence in therapies, improve revenues, lower healthcare costs, and deliver better outcomes for patients.
Beyond healthcare, we’re applying these methods to address issues of loyalty, persistence, retention, and behavior change in a wide range of industries, including consumer goods and services, retail and hospitality, finance, and sports fandom.
