Watch Toy Lab’s Experiments in Designing iPhone Apps That Enrich Family Interactions

As a part of IDEO, Toy Lab believes that design needs to stem from real people, real needs, and real desires. Because of this, the team constantly talks to kids and parents, keeping their eyes open for what’s new and important in the lives of families. Recently, Toy Lab couldn’t help but notice a new phenomenon in play: the iPhone. The crew found it compelling that adults weren’t the only ones loving this new toy. So, we've embarked on a series of experiments. Our latest is Balloonimals, an iPhone app designed to engage the whole family. Blow into the microphone on your iPhone, and watch balloon animals spring to life.
