About

Colin Raney is a Location Director and an Associate Partner at IDEO, where he leads the Boston studio.

Colin specializes in designing and developing business ventures and growth opportunities. These efforts helped to pioneer a discipline within IDEO now known as Business Design. He has worked across a wide range of industries including consumer technology, retail, CPG, finance, education, automotive, pharmaceuticals and robotics.

Prior to IDEO, Colin developed software for the telecommunications industry. His work has taken him around the world, allowing him to learn from people from all walks of life.

Colin sits on the Advisory Board for the MIT Media Lab. He has written for Harvard Business Review, Fast Company and Rotman. He is an advisor to several early-stage companies and a mentor at Techstars, Boston. In his spare time he enjoys cycling, painting and is always hacking around on some half-finished software project.
