IDEO’s Future of the Book concept wins a Webby in the Experimental & Weird Category.

Webby Honorees include IDEO.org for Charitable Organizations/Non-Profits and GoGo Inflight Portal for Best Navigation/Structure.

The Oregon Manifest Creative Collaborations Bicycle Challenge has come to a close with the announcement of the People’s Choice winner. Voters chose Faraday, the bike designed and built by IDEO and Rock Lobster Cycles. Read more about the Faraday here. A journal of the bike’s build over the past eight months can be found on Core77.

Design for Change, a design based school competition which started with the Design for Giving contest in 2009, has won an INDEX award in the work category. Design for Change is the largest global movement designed to give children the opportunity to put their ideas into action.

OpenIDEO — IDEO’s networked innovation platform — was awarded the winner of the Service Design category in Core77’s first ever awards program. IDEO’s work for Bedsider took the win for strategy/research while HackFwd, Steelcase node and Future of the Book were awarded runner up and professional notable awards respectively.

OpenIDEO, IDEO’s open innovation platform, and Grover’s Number Special, a Sesame Street iPhone app designed in collaboration with IDEO, both won Webby Awards in the Community and Games-Tablet & All Other categories, respectively.

The iO-Flex surgical system, design by IDEO with Baxano Inc. won a gold MDEA award in the surgical equipment, instruments and supplies category. More on the award here.

BBVA’s ATM won an award in the “product interface” category of the iF Communication Design Awards 2011.

The LifePort Kidney Transporter from Organ Recovery Systems was recognized in the “Solution to a Consumer Product” category of the IDSA-sponsored awards. The LifePort Kidney Transporter improves kidney preservation, evaluation and transport prior to transplantation. Kidneys transported in the LifePort device have been shown to be 48 percent less likely to fail within the first year after the transplant than those preserved by the traditional icebox method.

UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business recognized IDEO’s Tom Kelley with the Haas Innovation Award for his contributions to advancing the understanding and practice of innovation.
