The design and engineering innovations come in the form of both incremental engineering improvements and larger design overhauls, which have helped to realign Zyliss with its forty-year tradition of cutting edge performance. One of the most recent designs includes the award-winning All Cheese Grater, developed by IDEO human factors specialists, designers, and engineers in collaboration with Zyliss. Based on user observations and market research, the RedDot award-winning grater increases usability by accommodating a broader range of users and a wider array of food types. With its unprecedentedly large drum size, the design is able to grate more cheese (hard and soft), chocolate, and nuts with less cranking. An optimized, clog-resistant tooth pattern provides maximum grating with minimal resistance for older users and people with small hands. The foldable and opposable hand crank makes for more efficient drawer storage, and for easier use by right- and left-handed consumers.
