ORGANIZATION DESIGN SPECIALIST

Position Summary

IDEO is searching for an Organization Design Specialist to further build on capability related to organizational design and transformation across multiple sectors. We are looking for a designer/design thinker who is an agent of change. A successful candidate is willing to challenge outdated wisdom around existing structures and practices. Qualified candidates possess several years of strategic and demonstrable experience working within large business and/or corporate environments. Preferred industry expertise encompasses one or more of the following: Consumer Experience and Service Design, Health and Wellness, Public Sector, just to name a few.

Skills desired are culled from a combination of Change Management, strategic Human Resource Management, or Organizational Development/Psychology. A background in design or experience in a creative environment is a plus. Please be aware this job will demand direct participation as a key contributor. This role will also require business related travel (approximately 30%).

As an Organization Design Specialist you should be able to employ skills that provide great value for clients while also leading your team to greatness.

Key Activities

Design Skills

  • Think creatively to generate design solutions that best address strategic and organizational issues

  • Track the latest trends and edge thinking about the future of work and organization.

  • Apply skills and experience relating to the organizational structure and people side of work (e.g. Organizational Design, Training & Development, Organizational Psychology, Change Management, Organization Development and HR)

Team and Communications Skills

  • Manage client expectations of the project content as it evolves

  • Scope and manage project work tasks, timelines and budgets

  • Understand business propositions and multiple industries

  • Inspire, facilitate and coach design teams to generate innovative propositions for our clients

  • Quickly understand a range of Client Organizations and their business and organizational challenges

  • Listen with empathy to both client and creative teams needs

  • Advise and facilitate decision making amongst C-Suite Executives

  • Manage the non-hierarchical structure of IDEO with the often hierarchical structure of client organizations

  • Network both externally with clients and internally within IDEO

  • Identify risks and opportunities and communicate their implications clearly to the client and project team, identifying occasions when further specialist input might be needed to support the project

  • Support business development activities and communicate IDEO’s unique value proposition within the area of organizational design and transformation
